Our final night spent sleeping in a tent happened to be located in a really cool spot called "Nickle Creek" (the Chris Thile enthusiast inside me smiled a bit). The site was settled between two large hills and sloped gently down to a secluded beach. We arrived late and sat on a cliff while watching the sun go down and drinking to a great journey. Though we had seen sunset after sunset for the past week, this routine had still not become old. The following day was spent wandering around the beach and exploring every detail of every nook we could find. It was a great place to reflect on the trip and relax before the long drive home...boy was it a long drive. Our plan was to leave the Redwoods around noon, drive through the night, and stop in Flagstaff the next evening to stay with some couch surfers. But as we sat down for dinner in Arizona, the five of us received some unbeknownst urge and drive to keep going. So we kept going. We drove from northwest California to Norman Oklahoma with only one stop (though we did come across a huge crevice in the ground in the middle of Arizona...someone ought to check that out, people could get hurt). We killed time with Radiolabs, laser dance parties, deep philosophical discussions, and window signs...and we almost got mugged in the slums of San Francisco.
The Redwoods were incredible and I am already making plans to go back.
